THE BUYING PROCESS

Introduction

The real estate sales and purchasing process in Italy is fairly streamlined and not particularly complex.  For the most part, a foreign national stands in the same position as an Italian citizen, with one exception.  When it comes to the purchase of property in Italy, a foreign national must pay an 11% purchase tax at completion.  An Italian citizen only pays 4%.

6 easy steps

  1. Fill out the form on the 'Contact us' page.
  2. We will arrange your viewing trip, you can choose a property.
  3. Once you have chosen, make an offer just as you would at home.
  4. Agree on a price, pay a deposit to the estate agent to secure the property.
  5. Instruct a notary who will draw up contracts and deal with any legal enquiries, such as title of the property ect.
  6. On completion day, the contracts are signed by both parties, the money is paid, title exchanges hands and the property becomes yours.
